Graphic Design

I am interested in yourGraphic design course because its always been a passion of mine, I have always been interested and excited about graphic design from being in high school, I have always wanted to further my education in an are of Art and Design and Graphics was the best choice for me. My best aspect of graphic design is drawing and I think depending on the circumstances of my drawing it is mostly better after it has been created digitally as well.

The work that i am submitting to you shows most aspects of my abilities for example; hand drawn images, digital images and hand drawn then enhanced digitally, I think my work is of a good standard and would love the opportunity for an interview. 

The images shown above are form the brief Extraordinary journeys, I had to choose from a selection of journeys, either;

1.    The extraordinary consequences of a seemingly small or ordinary event.

2.    A life-cycle or developmental cycle in nature.

3.    The use of an ordinary object from an unusual perspective or point of view.

4.    The production cycle of an ordinary object.

5.    The unusual use of an ordinary object.

I chose a life cycle or developmental cycle in nature, I came up with a variety of life cycles of different insects and animals. I chose to do the life cycle of a frog and display it as a educational poster, after completing this, I took my work even further by instead of the poster i decided to create a cover and an inside page of a frog field guide. i was happy with my final designs and think they are a Strong part of my portfolio.

        These are the drawings from my life drawing class, I found the class difficult at first but after a couple of the classes, my drawings improved a lot. I enjoyed life drawing because i like to take care in my work and make sure it is as perfect I can get it in the time I have.

        The images above are from a conceptual packaging brief, I was given a god and was asked create packaging for something that represents the god. I was given the god Lu Hsing, the god of wealth and salaries, i packaged my god as a "money tree", I chose the money tree idea because i represented the way you have to work for a salaries and your have to take care of the tree for it to grow money.

The images above are form the brief Beautiful monsters, I was given the task to design a beautiful monster and a ugly monster using photo montage, I researched a variety of  random animals and objects that i thought i could use in creating my monsters. I also created my own lettering using bones for the monster and sweets for the beautiful because i thought they were relevant to the beautiful and ugly theme, i think my final designs were good and i may further then and drop them into scenery.

The images above are form a drawing brief, were i had to create images using traditional media on a social issue, I chose to use the issue of gang life and street crime. I used inks and hand made paper in the background of my image then I drawn my image over the top using black marker pens. After completing my design I photographed it and placed it into Adobe Photoshop so that i could add digital enhancements. I like the way my hand drawn images looked after i added digital enhancements and I have done this with other pieces of my work.

The images above are from a variety of different logo design briefs, some of these are from live briefs for example; the paper jam brief was for the college graphics studio and the volleyball logo was for the college volleyball team. I was told that my designs were really good but they never made the one they picked because of little errors like, the volleyball team was for both sexes and because there was only a women in the logo it wasn't chosen.
